CTT diversity of articles

Since last year (when I signed up for CTT), I have noticed that there is a more rich diversity of articles compared to several years ago. Part of that may be the competition of OGR, or maybe from how this hobby has grown and expanded since then. They did have an article recently on a prewar layout, and an article on prewar tank cars. That’s more than what you would find in OGR, and I appreciate that. There has also been a consistant flow of practicle articles.

They have the 4-part series of building a small layout… usefull for beginners, but OGR used to highlight unique ideas of small layouts that others have made. That has been more usefull, I think.

I hope CTT continues to improve and find good balance (as someone on another thread said) between the great layouts, the classics, and good info and ideas for us “little” 027 guys.

I think they are doing a good job. Did not know there was a CTT. Back in the late 70’s and to the mid 80’s., I subscribed to MR. I really did not fit there but picked up some good ideas. Now, getting back into the hobby, with CTT I feel I fit.

CTT has been improving, as have all magazines dealing with model railroads. People expect more in the way of photos and articles than they did a few years ago. Also, people like a variety of topics.

I also subscribe to Trains and to MR, the latter for the excellent modeling tips.
