I was going through old bookmarks this afternoon and spent an enjoyable time going through the gallery. If any of you are planning a vacation next summer and are thinking about Durango/Silverton you should make time for this ride also, it’s too close to miss. Sure brings back some good memories. Jon be sure and click on the gallery http://www.cumbrestoltec.com/index.php
Jon, thanks for the heads up. I have some good friends in Durango and hope to be visiting them this spring. I will have to look up the CT. I have seen some video from them and it is a great trip.
Dennis
Hey Dennis, Two pieces of advice that worked for us. Stay in Chama and ride the train to Antonito and then take the bus back, about an hour by bus. The lunch at Osier is really good and the climb out of Chama is just wonderful. We did the Durango/Silverton and also enjoyed it immensely. On the advice of a friend we also took the bus back to Durango, good advice. The Cumbres/Toltec runs only one way, (it goes back the next day with riders from Antonito) takes all day but it was our favorite. Both rides are fantastic but the Cumbres/Toltec vistas were, in our opinion, the best. I’ll post some pics tomorrow on photo fun. Jon
