I have to tell you about this.
My old eyes aren’t what they used to be. Even my lighted magnifier is getting iffy. So while puttering around on the Aliexpress website, I came across the Hayve 10.1 Inch LCD digital microscope. It looked promising so I started doing some scouring of the internet for info and reviews of this thing. Much to my surprise the reviews and articles about this thing were very positive, so I decided to give it a try. Now Aliexpress can be sketchy to say the least so I looked on Amazon. It was on Amazon but they wanted $249 Canadian dollars. With the coupon code I found online it was $100 Canadian from Aliexpress. I’m not gonna lie. I’ve spent $100 on far stupider things so I thought I would give it a try. And I’m glad I did.
This thing pleasantly surprised me. Image quality is very good. The magnification doesn’t come close to the 1500x the manufacturer claims, but it is more than sufficient for what I’m going to use it for, soldering small items mostly and some detail work. The photos below show max magnification on a Digitrax decoder I had lying around. Those are the small resistors from the center of the board, not the larger ones on the side of the board. Pretty darn good I’d say. It runs on rechargeable lithium ion batteries. One in the display and one in the base for the lights. I’ve used this for a few hours now and there is still plenty of battery life left so I’m not worried about it being battery operated at all. The batteries are charged with a USB C cable. The display is plenty big and bright. My lighted magnifier has now been relegated to the storage shelf.
If you’re like me and the old eyes aren’t what they used to be, I’d recommend this unit.
