Hi everyone. Im planning to customize a few N Scale passenger coaches so I have some office cars like the BNSF railroad has. The only problem is, I lack the time, skills but mostly the equipment. Put simply, Im looking for someone who builds custom models who might be interested in doing a set up for me. If you are, or know someone who might be interested in doing up a few BNSF office cars, please let me know. I have my eye on a few coaches that can be used as the base for the models, but like above, I lack the time, skills and the equipment [a printer that can print decals is the main thing I don’t have] to make the set a reality.
Anyone who is interested, reply and we can swap emails and start to nut it out. Hoping to hear some good news back.
Cheers,
Anthony.
If decals are the thing that’s holding you back, there are plenty of options. I have an aging inkjet printer, and I do my own decals with that all the time. For slightly better quality, you can get laser decal paper and bring your artwork to a Kinkos or other service place and pay them to print a sheet.
The real problem is printing white (or light-colored) decals, since modern printers can’t do that. My solution is to paint the model’s surface white, and then put the decal over that. If you prefer, you can send your artwork to a commercial decal maker and have them make up the decal sheets for you. That gets a bit pricey for small runs, though.
This trolley was painted with rattle-can spray paint from the hardware store, using blue painters’ tape for masking. I made these decals on my inkjet printer. I don’t consider myself an expert at custom modeling, by any means. (This was my second such model.)

Don’t be afraid to try something like this just because you’ve never done it before. None of us were born with modeling skills. One of my favorite aspects of the hobby is the opportunity to try new things, and learn new techniques.
I have looked, but the decals that i am after dont seem to be available anywere. I am only after small BNSF ‘Wedge’ and the old circle with the cross logos [Plus a few car names] to put on the coaches, but the only ones i can find are decals for locos which are too big. What if i can send you a small graphic, could you mayb print a sheet of them for me? I can send you some money to cover ink and decal paper.
Let me know if this might be ok.
Cheers,
Anthony.
