Hi all…Deciding to attempt to get adventrous here and attempt to do a custom job on a Con-cor Shovel-nose hudson. Was curious if anyone would have any advice for someone regarding paint and decals. Kind of a newbie here…
Thank you for your time.

Welcome aboard, gkuchan. We’ve been expecting you.
If you are using an airbrush, try ACCU-flex paint. If you are using model spray-paint in a can, please make sure you practice on a scrap piece of plastic first. You may want to put down a coat of grey primer first, as this will help your top coat cover better.
Try Microscale decals, but I’m not sure they have that particular set. Gonna have to do a little leg work.
Did ya findly get ya a new battery for your Belltones? [:D][swg][:o)][:o)]
Well, to start with, use a smaller font.
If this is your first time repainting &c, do NOT start on your pride-and-joy fleet flagship locomotive. Instead, pick an inexpensive item (diesel switcher, $5 boxcar from a swap meet, first-ever plastic kit) and use it to practice. If you do ruin something, it won’t be a huge loss.
I’m doing something similar right now with some boxcars. If you don’t have a dedicated workbench (I’m on the kitchen table), use the water-soluable no-fumes paints. So you won’t have to worry about choking somebody out the next time they walk into the room.
Break up your project into steps separated by ‘let dry overnight’. This will let you think over what went well, what went poorly, what you need to do over again, and how you can do it different - and we hope better - next time.
