Cutting Chooch Walls

I have 5 or 6 Chooch Enterprises interlocking walls…

that I’ve got to cut. I believe they’re made of a type of plaster but I don’t know that for sure. I saw that cutting them with a hobby saw is going to be a long, tedious task so I got out my Dremmel and tried it on a little area that I was going to lose anyway and it seems to work fine, though I think I need a thinner cut off disc than the one I have.

Does anyone have experience with these or similar products and how to cut them without damage.

Thanks,

JaRRell

I believe they are some sort of resin. Actually when I cut them I smell auto body filler putty.

I cut them about 1/2 way and break them on the score line like glass. If you need to join them, I use pre-mixed drywall joint compound. After it dries you can scrape off the excess and paint over it. The seam will not be apparent.

Thanks for the tip on the drywall compound, Ken. I guess it’s ok to cut them with my Dremmel. Sure would be a lot faster.

Jarrell,

If what Ken says is the case, I’d make sure that you have proper ventilation before cutting that stuff with the Dremel.

Tom

I had my eye protection on and I did it on a table outside. It worked fine but I think I’m going to go a step further and wear one of those masks and also set up a fan that blows the dust away from me. It’s as fine or finer than sifted flour.

Anyway now I know that a dremmel will do the job.

Thanks!
