CVP Products’ wireless DCC throttle

why are CVP radio systems not available for export??? I want CVP DCC for my railroad but I also want the advantage of radio, Digitrax radio IS available here in New Zealand. Maybe I should get my daughter in Canada to buy me a radio unit and just send it to me!!!

Dear Benton: The CVP radio system works in channels using the 902 through 928 MHz band. In North America his band doesn’t need a licence provided the manufacturer limits the transmit power to the max. limits stoipulated by the regulating Agency (FCC in the USA and Industry Canada - Spectrum Management). Unfortunately, in many countries this frequency band cannot be used the same way than here in N. America. Either the band is not asigned for this purpose, or the transmitting power limit is different or the beginning and end band frequencies are different. For this (these) reason(s), CVP has decided not to have these units available for export… Before you go ahead and ask your daughter to buy the units you need, I think it would be a good idea to check in New Zealand the applicable regulations in regard of the usage, without a licence, of this frequency band and whether it can be used in NZ for the same application. Regards, and good luck.

Manual is easy to understand, response time is great and customer support is excellent.

Thank you David for the review. I keep rocking back and forth on my conversion too DCC for my 23 year old layout. Your info was helpful. The decision is difficult.
