cvp products?

Reading march mrr and came across an advertisement for cvp products zonemaster booster system multifunction dcc booster with everything built in. Does anyone have one of these units? Does it work well or am I better off using digi, mrc, nce power. It caught my eye because of the 7 amps and its own zones so if something derails it dosen’t shut down the whole layout.

Any thoughts guys and gals

Mike

we use cvp, but we don’t use their boosters. we are considering it since our current boosters are not quite meeting our expectations.

just wanted to reply since I have the same interest you do.

I use CVP DCC and find it great. I have an older system (2) years and they came out with an upgrade. I ordered it Thursday of this week. Will have it next week. Not bad Texas to Ontario.

The system works. The only downside is that they do not have thier own decoders. they suggest TCS , which I bought and find to be good also. TCS has a no fault guarantee which I have used and they do send a new one. They want the old one back but thats not a problem.

A friend aslo has CVP and is happy with it.

Go NCE or Digitrax if you aren’t sure, but if you are set on CVP go with that.

can you program cv with it or is it a standard set up from decoder and that is all you get. do you have a pic of the system you use (handheld or whatever you use to control it).

Mike I use the wireless throttles and have one booster. I also bought the power supply from them. You can programme any decoder just like other systems. sorry no pics but if you hit their web site it may have pics.

I model On30,and have a booster that has more power than I can use. I did not want to find that I needed something I did not have. call them on the phone , the guy that answers ( Al) is alot of help and easy to talk to. He will help with any problems tech right over the phone.

It is a good system.

Dave

thanks david

The Zonemaster is one of those products that makes a lot of sense.

It’ll be interesting to see how much the four-zone models prices out to, for comparison with combinations of boosters and separate power management boards from other manufacturers. I’m involved with a couple of layouts where the Zonemaster could be a reasonable alternative.
