CZ Servicing on Sunday (4 IMG)

Hey Gang,

Caught No. 5 - the Westbound CZ - down in Denver Sunday morning. Took a series of shots of the crew servicing the train. These were my 4 favorite shots.

First up are a couple of shots showing the fueling equipment/process:

Next up was something a little out of the ordinary. The lead loco had a cracked mirror, and the maintenance staff swapped it out during the station stop. There was a good amount of dexterity involved in this process:

And finally, here’s a shot of the lead loco’s windows getting cleaned during the stop:

Thoughts, comments and critiques welcomed as always!

I like the high tech method of controling fuel spills.

Also, for those who don’t know, all exterior car windows are washed on the Westbound CZ. Not sure that any other Amtrak trains get that service at intermediate points.

Looks like they were at the “Full Serve” track. Did the engineer get a set of NFL glasses with the fill-up?

Green stamps?

Jay - I was curious about that. Catching the window washers is just part of the stop in Denver, but I’ve never noted it elsewhere, either.

Chuck - LOL!

Green stamps!?! Wow, are you dating yourself! (I remember them (as well as the glasses) quite well)

And after your 4th fill up, (remember when you could afford to do that?) you got the matching pitcher.

I have to! Nobody else will!

(Not my original line, but I liked it so much when I heard it I decided to “borrow” it for a while.)
