DAP Adhesive and Topper Tape

I have been using DAP Adhesive and Topper tape for years on my layout, in the recent Model Railroader Newsletter Chuck Hitchcock also presents his side when it comes to using this inexpensive method of laying track.

For Me, I make sure I have a clean area on my foundation, which is blue foam core, making sure the alignment of the track line is right; then I spread a little DAP Adhesive with a clean spatula. I use the Topper Tape, with the more sticky side up for my track to adhere too, as the road bed. I then place the tape on the DAP Adhesive which when cured holds the tape really well.

My track is then placed on the sticky side of the Topper tape and that really stablilizes the track. NO nails! This method is much cheaper than cork, the height is a little higher but with detailing and ballast you will be surprised how good it looks. By the way with the sticky side up the ballasts sticks right to the tape eliminating the white glue, which I don’t do anyway.

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get Topper Tape in Ontario, Canada?

Thanks,

Nad

Nad:

In the states we can buy it at any good hardware or big box store such as Home Depot and Lowes. Depending what you have in Canada you can go to a similar store. Even a store that might sell camper tops for pick up trucks.

That is what Topper Tape is use for, to seal the camper to the the pick up bed where the camper top rests.

In fact Canada has pretty much the same stores as we do, so give it a try.

You might be able to find topper tape in an auto parts store. I have seen it in AutoZone.

You can get it at any RV outlet, Princess Auto, Canadian Tire, Home Despot, etc, etc. It is really not that hard to come across.

Johnboy out…

Great line about two for president and 50 for Miss America. We probably enjoy the ladies more than the guys, plus we know that the women run the country, the men just think they do… I do a radio program down here I gotta use that line o.k.

It should have been addressed to Johnboy, Sorry
