Ok, as promised here is the photographic update of the progress on my layout.
First up to bat is the cut that will be located on one of the curves of the mainline. It took about 6 hours worth of carving (total) with a Gerber Multi-Tool to get the two stacks of foam insulation board I started with to look like geographic shapes. I was able to complete scenery on one of them but I’m holding off on the other till I get a piece plywood I’m supposed to pick up from one of they guys in my unit.

Here is the unfinised half of the cut.

These are a few left over trees from the first half of the cut, and the already shaped amatures for the second half of the cut. I can tell that I’m going to need to buy another two or three 36 bulk pack of tree kits, as I can already tell by how fast this one is goin, that I’ll run out from the second one as well, and I plan to have alot of trees.

Now for the equipment. I’ve got a mix of new equipment that I bought recently and older equipment that I brought from home. The newer Bachmann trains apparently are coming with dummy knuckle couplers whereas my older Bachmanns and four old Life-Like cars are equiped with rapido style couplers. I plan to replace all the couplers with magnetic couplers if this is possible. If so would anyone be able to point me in the right direction as
