Darby & Southern RR Update

As yall can see by the title, after much consideration…I’ve chosen a name for my railroad. I’m naming it after my current duty station in Italy. The D&SRR’s corporate colors will be Green and Gold (the regimental colors or the U.S. Army Military Police Corps), as a tribute to my current job. It will be set in the fall of 1954 in the fictional Dalton County in Northern Texas. The town of Darby will serve as an interchange junction with the ATSF. The railroads on-line customers will be a small fuel distributor (a coal dealer) and a local gravel company. I’ve already started to buid some of the trees using woodland scenics tree kits, and I have two stacks of foam insulation board that will be ready to be shaped for the cut in a small hill that one of the curves in the mainline will go through. I was gonna make a tunnel, but I didnt have enough foam to make it look believable. Sorry I know yall are wantin to see photos, but my camera died a couple days ago, and my wife aint authorized purchasing a camera to replace it yet, so maybe in about a week or so (payday) I can talk her into lettin me get another’n and I’ll be sure to post pictures with my periodic updates from that point on. My current roster is all Bachmann with the exception of four Life-Like frieght cars. I need to also get more open hoppers and gondolas to properly service the industries on my railroad as my current roster of two bachmann hoppers, one life like hopper, and two bachmann gondolas aint quite gonna cut it. I’ll keep yall posted as I get further along.

Ok, I have two small stacks of foam insulation board that I have finished triming and have a few trees built. I took advantage of down time to start scenicing one of the foam hills. It’s got roughly a dozen or so trees and sufficient underbush on it. Once the glue is all dried, and whatnot, I’ll set it aside and begin doing the same to the other.
