Darn, is Classic Model Works ever going to release the Ford Woodies??

At this rate, their going to set some kind of record for number of times they put off a release. I remember, low those many, many months ago, how excited I was when they announced they were producing 1953 Ford Woodies. Now they have info on 1941-46 trucks (another fav of mine) listed on their website. I wonder when they will be released 2015?

Whats more hometown then a Ford station wagon?

I had in another post indicated that I received an e-mail from CMW that the 1953 Fords were NOW in transit. Also, a surprise. In addition to the Squire Woody wagon there will be a sedan delivery version as well.

I remember as a kid living in Florida the neighbors next door had a old ancient 52 or 53 Ford wagon.I plan on building a mid 50s layout so there will be a few on my streets.

I sent CMW emails regarding the 53 Woodies in N scale. They apologized and said most of the delays in the past couple of years has been due to factory problems in China. Their main factory went bankrupt leaving their molds and tooling in harms way. They had to protect and move all their tooling to a warehouse so they weren’t confiscated. After several months of negotiation (and no production) they contracted a new factory.

The molds and tooling were moved and inspected. The tools suffured a lot of damage during transit, so costly repairs had to be made before any production was possible. After 10 weeks the molds and tooling were finally ready for testing and production. All this delays caused a domino effect and delayed all the new projects including the 53 Ford Woodies and the Walther’s TDH3610 buses.

My understanding is announcements versus release dates will be much better going into 2011… let’s hope!
