Dc to DCC

If I have only insulfrog turnouts can I eventually convert to dcc without changing any of the turnouts by simply powering the line? whether the siding is thrown or not?

please hurry Im going to buy my turnouts in an hour

That’s how we did ours. We used insul-frog switches from Peco as power-routing switches as well, so that whichever direction the switch was thrown, that particular track was powered. That only applied to most, but not all, of the switches, though, since we had extensive ladders in our marshalling yard and using power-routing there would have been a nightmare.

Yes, insulfrog turnouts are better than electrofrog for the simple reason that wiring is much simpler. If you’re already wired for DC, you don’t need to change anything.

It is not a big deal either way. All you have to do is put insulating joiners on the two rails that go through the frog, and power the rails beyond that with feeders from your bus.
