Nice, a fraction of the (over) priced one that New Rail Models sells. Have you received them yet and tried them with different throttles?

I am having a difficult time understanding excatly what you purchased.

I use the Universal Throttle Pocket from New Rail Models.

Hi Randy

All I have and the club have are the NCE throttles. They fit just fine. Much less cost than the Universal models. Cannot beat $1.99. The site gives the dimensions of the holder.

I tried a mouse holder, not impressed. However I use the New Rail holders, and like them very much. My throttles are all NCE procabs or cabo4prs and they fit fine for me.

Ahh, pastorbob cleared that up for me. I misread your initial post, but now I see that you were suggesting that we Google “mouse holder”. In any event, although the cost is higher, the New Rails Universal Throttle holder is excellent. I, too, use the NCE Pro Cab, and it fits perfectly in the holder.

I think I remember seeing these used in one of the model railroad magazines. In that article, they said that the mouse holder worked okay, but the key was that you had to remove those two little tabs that project horizontally from the bottom of the holder. This allowed the handset to fit properly in the holder.

Are you removing those tabs, or will doing so allow one of the rectangular shaped handsets to slip out the bottom?

I tried the mouse holders and didn’t like them.

I switched to using heavy duty Velcro. I mount a 2-inch square of the ‘fuzzy’ part on the fascia and a 1 x 2 1/2-inch strip of the stiff ‘hooks’ on the back of my DT400.

With the 2-inch squares at various places on the front and back of the layout table there is always a convenient place to put my controller.

Works good and its cheap!

I vote for the velcro. I have been using it for 3 yrs. with my Digitrax throttles with no problems.

We had trouble with “mature” belly’s using the Velcro. The holders hold much better.

I tried velcro but the big black lab’s tail was an issue. I built my own out of scrap masonite:

I installed some of those new cab holders at the club last night and they work out quite well with our NCE cabs,

Okay, but my question still remains unanswered. Did you find it necessary to remove those two little tabs down at the bottom of the holder so that the handsets snuggle down without flopping out, or will doing so allow the rectangular handsets to slide out the bottom?

With a pair of wire cutters, I made the “V” wider. With a couple, I used a razor saw and cut off part of the piece with the two tabs and installed it a little below the rest of the holder. Also widened the “V”.

Rivet counters may not like it because they look different than the Universal ones next to them but I do what ever works. Still cheap and quick enough.

I make a loop in the throttle cord, and secure it with a cable tie. I buy cheap plastic hooks at a doller store for less than a dollar for 4. These stick on the fascia with the supplied double sided tape.
