Will it hurt anything to run a DC Engine with a DCC Controller? What could I use for roadbed if I want to make the train overpass a road? Any suggestions on how to build a mountain? I was thinking that I was just going to just cut foam in the shape I wanted my mountain, then pour plaster down it. I didn’t know if there would be a better way.
Hi There from across the pond.
You can operate certain types of DC loco with certain types of DCC controller however, if the loco has a coreless motor then I don,t recommend it. Why would you want to do this anyway? if you have a DCC system then in HO decoders start from $8.95!
As to the scenic questions may I refer you to the excellent articals found in Model Railroader.
I personally use plywood/mdf sandwich subroadbed then cork roadbed on top. Mountains are card strips covered with plaster bandage and sculptamould. Everyone does it better!
Good luck with your pike
it also depends on your DCC system. Some will run an analog loco and others wont. Which DCC system do you have?
I suggest you start separate threads for your track and scenery questions, there are lots of ways to do both and lots of debate over what works best.
