I am just starting into Model r/r ing and I am going DCC. I have been doing my homework but need help with one question. What is the best DCC controler I can get so when I expand my layout I won’t have to get other controlers.
Thanks,
Bill
Bill, if you want a DCC setup that can grow with you, consider what you want in a system now, and then what features you would want to add later. There are several excellent systems on the market. Digitrax has the Zephyr starter (What I have), NCE just introduced a new starter system, Lenz has one and EasyDCC has lower cost systems. There are other systems out there as well. All are good and offer different features. Some may be more applicable to you than others. Perhaps you can list your requirements and we can get more specific with suggestions.
Bill,
Welcome to the forum! Good to have you aboard [:)]
For the money, the Digitrax Zephyr would be the way to go. It will run a small to medium layout. If your layout grows and you need additional boosters, the Zephyr will allow you to do that. If you want to go the wireless route, the Zephyr will allow you to do that, too. MSRP is $199.99 for the Zephyr but it can be found discounted for under $160. Tony’s Train Exchange (http://www.tonystrains.com/products/digitrax_stsets.htm) or Empire Northern Models (http://www.empirenorthernmodels.com/Digitrax%20Page.htm) can help you out. (ENM is slightly cheaper than Tony’s and Tim is a VERY helpful and knowledgable guy.) Either place would be a good source.

I checked out the Digitrx Zephyr starter. I think I 'll go with that. If I have this right, it should work. Thanks for your help, I will keep you posted.
Thanks again, Bill
