DCC controlled sliding staging

Well a little more progress this week

I thought I’d start with somewhere to come from and go to, Staging!! where to put it in 9 x 11 room?? make it slide!! got the idea from “Railroad” a forum member from Greece.

I added two electric motors which drive a 5mm thread which pushes and pulls the whole baseboard back and forth. The baseboard is mounted on ballbearing drawer runners.

The motors are controlled from a Lenz decoder. It’s a prototype and needs alittle work.

The drawer runners and motors are from a Fisher & Paykel Dishdrawer http://fp.co.nz/global/kitchen-products/dishwashing/dishdrawer.cfm

I’ve seen a few versions of these and am always impressed with them, especially when they are 6’ wide or more. How do you index the tracks so that it stops on each one with proper alignment ?

A local club has a similar sliding staging shelf , but it’s industrial sized.

They have a video of it in action:

Still working on the indexing idea, any suggestions??
