what DCC decoder do you guys recommend for the Bowser trolley? I have a 12845 Philadelphia PTC trolley. It looks like Loksound - but the info is really vauge - which one…help a MRR borther out! Thanks Joel
This is one case where a DIgitrax one might be the answer. Fred Miller developed a sound project for the Digitrax sound decoders that does all sorts of prototypical trolley sounds and functions. It was well documented - might have been an article in MR a few years ago. I’d just use the newest 16 bit version of the decoder, assuming the project has been upgraded with bettter quality audio.

I have an older PCC car from Bowser and a Bachmann Peter Witt. I just put a simple DH -123 in the PCC car. I think the Peter Witt came with a decoder. I added a second decoder for just sound. I used the sound project files Randy described.
The sound worked fine, but that particular decoder had insufficient audio output level and I can barely hear it.

TCS makes a decoder specifically for the Bowser PCC streetcars. It may work for the PTC trolleys as well:
The prototypical breaklight effect is pretty nifty. It’s a motor-only decoder though. Not sure if a TCS Wow! would fit…
