DCC engine runs over about 8 inches of paper!!!!!!

Take a look at this. Go to tonystrains.com and clip on the video of the Lenz Gold decoder in the left hand column. So that is why they call them super capacitors!! I’m impressed.

Yeah they are really cool, but they have been out and available since ummm October 2004 as I recall.

there is only a small period of time when all wheels are on the paper so its not like the loco is going 8 inches with no power. Still very good though, looks like it wouldnt have too much trouble with dirty spots.

Help for my Athearn 2-8-2 Mikado, Proto Heritage 0-8-0 via over the counter purchase.
Technology to the rescue!

Off subject: Will the Univ of Texas nano technology engineering students who made an American Flag 1/10 the width of a human hair introduce a new smaller scale to model railroading for those who are REALLY, REALLY cramped for space? If so, will Kadee come up with couplers?

WHO will spend 5X the money to get a coupler who’s handshake (grip) cannot compensate for todays vertical track deflections - up or down?

I’not saying it can’t be done - just the cost for less reliability.

Ever use (scale) dummy couplers starting up (or down) a grade?

If your couplers come unhooked at the top or bottom of the grade, that just means you need more vertical easement [:D]

You can actually modify nearly any decoder to get at least part of the Lenz features - most notably the ability to continue moving over dirty track. http://www.members.optusnet.com.au/mainnorth/alive.htm
