has anyone managed to install DCC in the Bachmann Irish Green HO loco? if so, what decoder was used? any suggestions? I am particularly interested in having sound with DCC.

Sure, that looks like a very basic installation. With a little modification inside the tender there will be plenty of room for sound.

I forgot to add that when I got the first set (I have several) and put the loco on my DC test track it acted like a jack rabbit! but when I ran it (out of the box with no modifications to loco or passenger cars) on the club modular layout with 11 passenger cars, it ran very nicely, smooth slow start and smooth higher speed. I am looking forward to seeing how many passenger cars it can pull.
Hmmm lets see. I would say soundtraxx especially since they just slashed thier prices. I havent checked out Digitrax sound though, that is something to look at. Ans as for the speaker, the best thing to do is get the biggest one you can fit in your tender.
