Where can I go to get a primer on DCC?
I am planning to make my next layout, DCC controlled, but don’t know too much about it.
I am currently looking at the MRC Prodigy.

I use CVP Products’ AirWire900 wireless DCC system in all of my locomotives and have been very pleased with it. http://www.cvpusa.com
A short answer is, “DCC is DCC” regardless of scale. Any DCC system should suffice provided you get one with sufficient amperage rating to handle the current draw of your locomotives, and you install G-scale decoders into them.
I’ve used the SoundTraxx DSX Sound-Only decoder in a G-scale Bachmann Spectrum 2-6-0 Mogul and it has sufficient volume.

I use a Digitrax system for my On30 and G scale layouts. I have Lenz, Digitrax, MRC, and MTS decoders. I love the system. As long as you keep the tracks relatively clean, it works great.
I use the same controller/power supply for both layouts. with a DPDT toggle switch to change between the two layouts. Just have to remember to change the voltage switch on the controller when changing layouts.
Check out the NCE (North Coast Engineering) stuff, they have an excellent controller, and also make high current decoders if you use USA trains locos.
