i purchased a 2-6-2 a week ago its standard line, but upgraded with blackened wheels and a split frame ,this thing runs great. i took the shell of and cannot get to the motor ,you have to disassemble the whole engine to get the motor out to solder wires to the brushes. its a shame ,so off it goes back to the hobby shop. has anyone else had this problem?
All Bachmann standard line locomotives are made that way. It’s a cheap way to make them because there is no wiring or soldering involved during the manufacturing process.
Taking the engine apart to fit a decoder into it is not that big a deal if you have any mechanical aptitude and soldering skills. The biggest challenge is that you must remove all of the drive rods to get the wheels off so the frame will come apart.
Yep. It’s not that hard to do. Might be a little tricky if it has the smoke unit. Glad to hear it runs good. I’ve been thinking about getting one. They sell them at Hobby lobby and with their 40% off coupon, it takes them down to around $40.
