I have a pair of P2K Ph III GP9’s. The ‘diode’ board is different than on my Ph II or Ph 1GP9’s. There are 3 places marked ‘x’ that have one cut the circuit, and I suspect hard wire a decoder to the board. There is nothing in the instructions about which decoder wire goes where. Has anyone got a wiring diagram/cheat sheet? Thanks!

I’m not sure I understand the question. With P2K you should only have to
plug the decoder in, no soldering needed. The board should have a DCC
medium socket with a dummy plug. Dave
Dave,
What you say is true with the PhII & PhI GP9’s; The earlier Ph III GP9’s are setup like some of the P1K stuff. There is a ‘light’ board that is ‘sorta’ DCC Ready. There are 3 locations marked with an ‘x’ on the light board that must have the land patterns cut. The problem is that the Like-Like documentation makes no mention of where to attach the wires from the decoder.

I haven’t looked at these, but did they use colored wires to attach from the track pickups and motor leads? If they used standard DCC colors, you can probably follow those. Red and black are the track pickups, orange and grey are the motor leads. If they didn’t use colored wire to the circuit board, just connect those color decoder wires to the appropriate wires. Might be easier to just remove the diode board completely and solder the wires together. I have a few of these older units to do for my father in law, but I haven’t taken them apart lately to look at the wiring. You will need to repalce the light bulbs, as well. I plan on using LEDs myself.
