DCC PowerCab problem

Received my first DCC kit at Christmas - PowerCab plus a DZ123 decoder. Decoder fitted to one of my LifeLike E7s and programmed - result? Worked fine on the programming track. Along comes Junior who starts to press all, and I mean ALL the buttons. HELP!!

Switch on the controller, it scrolls through to - LOC 003 12:00am

FWD 000 L-23456

but loco dead!

I have no idea what L-23456 is or how Junior found it! How do I get rid of Junior, sorry that’s a mistake! How do I get rid of L-23456? Can I cancel all programmes and revert to the start to re-programme from the start, or what?

Give me a hand, Guys!!

Peter

I can’t help with the specifics, but check the manual and/or the web site for instructions on resetting to the factory default settings, then reprogram afterwards.

LOC 003 12:00am
FWD 000 L-23456

Loco 3 selected, forward, speed 0, Light on, function 2,3,4,5,6 on

Look at the owners manual and see how to reset the decoder to factory specs. Do that and start over.

Try the following: Select the loco, then press “headlight” to turn off headlight, press 2,3,4,5,6 to turn off functions 2-6. IF you still have problems, go to program on the main, then option 4 (motor controls). Set min, mid range, and max voltage to 0 (factory defaults), then press “esc” to end. This should reset the motor controls. I have several locos with digitrax decoders which after much idle time will either be off or full power ( no control of speed). I reset the motor controls to factory defaults and they work fine. One day I will set up speed tables. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Peter,

As others have suggested, all you have to do is to press the same number on your Power Cab throttle key pad as those that are on the LCD screen and the numbers will go away. These let you know which of your functions are activated for that particular locomotive. (L = light, 1 = Bell, 2 = Horn, etc.) All this will be in your Power Cab manual.

As far as the “dead” decoder, try resetting it to the factory settings. For Digitrax, all you need to do is set CV8 to “8”.

Peter, here’s a link that covers how to reset all the decoders to their factory settings:

Hope that helps…

Stunning advice yet again from the Forum. I will get to work straight away! For those interested I have bought Junior some boxing gloves - lets see if he can continue to press the buttons!!

Thanks Guys
