DCC Programming: episode 18 - speed table programming
Great video. DCC programing is super confusing to me. I can do some basic stuff but these video are very helpful I only wish you could make more. I am sure there would be plenty of material to cover before you ran out of ideas.
What brand is that speedometer?
Dana/Ben,
Good info, but for a modeler on a higher plane than I. For the time being, I just try to run like locomotives together that are close in speed. Changing CVs sometime in the future is something I hope to become more familiar with as I progress in the hobby. Thanks!
Allan
I have an F7A and a much smaller F7B Unit. The V start and V Max on the B unit is extremely different. The B unit has a higher V start step (almost 18) and operates more like a switcher than a B unit on open road running. Both units are new Atlas locos. With this video, I can see different methods to use in trying to speed match. However, I don’t see a way of increasing open road running. Any suggestions?
I am really enjoying MRVP. A significant compliment to my MR subscription.
MRVP lines up well with my learning style. I like that you matched decoders from different manufacturers. It demonstrated the beauty of Decoder Pro.
It’s making more sense each time I watch one of these. Thanks guys. It takes some effort but the results are worth it!
Super educational videos. Easy to understand and follow. Do you have a recommendation for the best interface for connecting the track to the computer for programming. with JMRI.
It appears that one needs to buy a speedometer to make this work. Yes?
The speedometer looks like an extremely useful gadget. I too would like to know more about it…manufacturer, price, etc. and, as it is labeled for HO, is there a model avaliable for N scale as well?
Another great educational video!
I have an Atlas RS3 that came with a Loksound sound decoder. When you throttle up the loco it has prototypical delay before moving. My other Atlas RS3 loco has a Soundtraxx Tsunami that does not have this delay. Is there a way to consist these two locos so they don’t fight each other at throttle up?
Also, the hint for looking at speed steps in properties for decoder pro, where would that be on an iMac?
I have a Digirax system. How do I run my engine at step 14 & step 28? All I can see is numbers 0 to 100.
If you do the speed matching/speed table for the Tsunami decoder using 28 speed steps, can you turn around and run it in the 128 speed mode without losing the speed table you input - i.e., will it do the interpolation from 28 to 128 maintaining your min, mid and max?
Very good Video, I am also looking for info on the speedometer. Thanks George
Dana,
You are the world expert on DCC programming. I learned a lot on your video on programming speed steps with Decoder Pro, especially using the slider switches which I could not figure out on my own.
Thanks,

Guys, when is the next DCC video coming. It has been a couple months.
