HI All, New guy on the block with a question about DCC wireing. Having moved and had to rebuild a RR I started the track laying and bought a PRODIGY ADVANCE system. Have a return loop on one end and will put an auto reverse mod. on it. The wiring looks pretty simple on a clean loop but mine has a passing track and a siding within the loop. Where do I get my power from for these 2 items, the main buss or somewhere else. Any info will help. dwest5
If the passing track and siding start and end within the loop, i would power them off the loop bus so it all stays in phase. If you try to use the main bus you will end up with a short. J.R.
The loop has to be longer than your longest train so if you entered the loop and then went in the siding the end of the train must be in the loop too. Do as GMT said power the siding etc off the loop.
Check to see what amps the reverser will handle. most will handle what you have planned for you. I know MRC reverser will handle it because that is what I have installed and run 4 engines through it.
Power everything off the loop. I have an entire yard in a reverse loop and run it with the MRC auto reverse module with no problems.
