DCC Specialties Frog-AR "Rev-B" not working

creating this thrad because rich asked about it in another thread

trying to install a 2nd DCC Specialties Frog-AR Quad Output Frog Auto-Reverser being use to control 2 reversing sections, same as the first one. first one worked last time i checked

no track power because the same voltage (i.e. DCC phase is on both outputs frog 1&2

we soldered jumpers across J904 pins 1&2 and 3&4 so that each pair of frogs are used as an AR

we also soldered jumper across pins 1&2 J101-J801 to configure all circuits for 2A

when connected to both AR sections, the LED was lit, presumably indicating a short. disconnecting the connects to frogs 3&4 cleared that fault and i believe a track section may not be isolated. i believe this can be ignored for now with no connections to frogs 3&4

i measured 11+V between J901 pin2, and J903 pins 1&2. i believe 11V should be between only one J903 pins 1 or 2.

i also tried shorting across the gap at the end of the reversing section while measuring 11V on that track. i think i saw the voltage drop, but it returned to 11V when the short was removed

my next step would be to cut the jumpers on J101-801 but doubt this should fix the problem

i’ve emailed tony&#

Wow, this is well above my pay grade, but I will watch for replies with interest.

Rich

apparently we installed it improperly because it is a rev-B board and needs to be configured differently with jumpers

we installed it the same way as the other board being used, apparently a rev-A board, as two ARs configued for 2A

greg, glad to learn that you got that resolved.

Thanks for the update post.

Rich

apparently, the Frog-AR Rev-B board can be configured to operate as 4 circuit breakers when jumpered the same way the Rev-A board is jumpered as 2 ARs

a 2nd Frog-AR board was purchased for use as 2 ARs just as the 1st board was. it appears the Rev-A is no longer available

we exchanged some emails, were told to make some measurements and sent them a picture of the board and were finally told to return it.

the confusion cost time and money
