DCC WIRING HELP!!!!!

HI GUYS.
I AM INSTALING THE POWER BUS AT THIS TIME, I CAN NOT TWIST THE TWO CABLES TOGETHER.

WHAT PROBLEMS MIGHT THIS GENERATE,IS IT ESENTIAL.

PATRICK

sorry about the caps.

Patrick,

Twisting the wires reduces electrical nterferance and balances the load - Just do not run other wires next to your ‘bus’ wires and you should have no problems.

Jim

I’m using non-twisted wire and have no problems. If you really feel you need it to cut “cross talk” between cable, any good electronic shop (not radio $hack) should have what you need.

At DCC frequencies and voltages twisting the bus is insignificant, or darn close to it. Don’t worry about it.

I never twisted any of the wiring under our 20x40 foot HO scale layout and we have never had any problems with crosstalk even though we have a Cat 5 LAN cable running around the facia for the DCC controllers to plug into.

I agree. Just run them close together for the sake of neatness and keeping things organized, but there is no need to wind one of them around the other. Maybe if you were running 100’, but not in your case.

I agree, I don’t think it is a neccessary precaution. In fact, I would suggest that it is more likely to cause an error in wiring if a feeder from the wrong rail gets attatched to the wrong bus wire. I like to keep mine separate so I can see what is going on. (Having different colored wires helps as well of course[:D] )

Are you gonna twist the rails together too? Fuggedaboutit!
