i cant figur uot wich is better atlas or digitracx

I still think that NCE is the best!! but for your age i think a digtrax starter set would be good.

I own a Lenz system myself, but for your starter layout I’d recommend a Digitrax Zephyr.

By the way, the locomotive decoders are all compatable with each other, and with any of the DCC control systems on the market. It’s the parts of the controllers that you can’t mix-and-match with.

Of the two I’d have to recommend Digitrax. Atlas is really just a sparse version of the lenz system. The only thing with digitrax is that it can be a bit more technical than the rest but computer connection can really help with that. Good luck and enjoy.

YOU FORGOT DCS

I wouldn’t necessarily say we “forgot”…

“De-selected” is closer to the truth. [;)]

first i think you should learn to either type or spell , depending on the reason for making so many mistakes in your post . i’m not being hard on you , it really is easier to express yourself if you can do both of those things . then i think you should tell us a bit about your layout (either built or planned) , the number of engines you hope to run , scale , if adding computer interface and control are important to you , and the number of operators you plan to have.

based just on the info you have given us i will suggest the digitrax zephyr because that’s what i have and i think everyone should get the same as me [:D]

First, I agree with ereimer regarding your spelling. At age 13, you should be able to spell: ( really, capitalize the beginning of a sentence ( I, not i), figure, not figur, which not wich, capitalize proper names Atlas, not atlas, Digitrax, not digitracx. I too am not picking on you, I stress the same with my 8 grandchildren. You will soon be filling out applications for employment for a part time job, and later, resumes for full time jobs when your career begins. If you are having a hard time spelling Elrod, get a dictionary, or even look up the words with online dictionaries, or use the spell check programs that are available for free. You can do it Elrod, don’t feel for one minute that you cannot.
Now for your question, I researched all the DCC brands, listened to many LHS folks, and many of the online forum folks before settling on NCE. Does that mean that other brands are less quality, or no good? Of course not, but NCE was right for me and what I wanted.
Good luck with your modeling Elrod, and do good with your spelling in school,

If you cant even form a proper sentance or spell correctly, I think you might just have a tad bit of trouble using DCC.

That would be can’t and sentence. You know what they say about glass houses. [}:)]

Meanwhile - I’d say that the Atlas Commander and the Digitrax Zephyr are about evenly matched. Both are good entry-level systems with potential for expansion. In terms of what one has over the other:- The Digitrax Zephyr allows for 4-digit addressing when expanded into a larger Digitrax system, whereas the Atlas is strictly 2-digit. It also allows you to use a regular DC powerpack as an additional throttle.

  • The Atlas Commander can use the Lenz XPA cordless-phone adapter, the most economical wireless throttle on the market. In fact, an XPA and a cordless phone total up to less than the Atlas and Lenz non-wireless throttles!

In the final analysis, I’d check around and see what system DCC users you know currently use. If they’re mostly Atlas or Lenz guys, go with Atlas. If they’re mostly Digitrax, get the Zephyr. That’ll give you ready access to local one-on-one support, and that can be the biggest factor in easy transition to DCC.

When you leave, Elrod, don’t forget to thank these gentlemen for lecturing you.
