I have an Acela trainset with diffrent brand decoders, operated by a Digitrax system. Sometimes one acts funny. How can I mu the Bachman Acela trainset locomotives. I did this once and it worked, but I removed a locomotive from the mu, and I want to mu them again, but it will not work. They just don’t go in the right direction. What trick can I use to solve this? Please someone help.

Which decoders are you currently using? Do you want to use Universal Consisting or Advanced Consisting?

alloboard,

When you say that you “removed a locomotive from the mu”, I’m assuming that you mean you physically removed it off the track. Did you also remove that particular locomotive from your Digitrax throttle? You may need to erase the MU settings on all of your MU’d locomotives and start over again.

Seems I remember reading somewhere that you could run into problems if you didn’t put the locomotives exactly in the order and orientation that they were MU’d in before.

Tom

I would erase the previous MU settings and start again.

You said you had “a different brand” of decoders in these. I’ve got a couple of engines with TCS decoders in them. I’ve found that I can NOT consist these engines in reverse, although they will work fine in forward. So, they are generally the front engines in any consist I run so that I can put a Digitrax-equipped engine in the back.

Does the Acela have 2 engines, one forward, one rear? If you were able to do this before, try swapping which one you call the front and which one you call the back.
