DCC

I,m new to this DCC thing. Can someone explian what they mean by 12-128 speed steps?

Welcome to the digital age. 14, 28 and 128 speed steps. This is how the decoder interprets where the throttle is in relation to its travel. In other words. If you have a push button to increase the speed of the locomotive if you have the decoder set for 28 speed steps then it would take 28 presses of the button to get to full throttle. Most people operate in 28 or 128 S.S. for better slow speed control. Some newer decoders will run better in 28 or more speed steps. 14 speed steps is an old standard that is pretty out dated.
