I am starting a new layout. I want to do it all hi-tech - DCC, CTC, Sound, Block Signal Activation, Switching. What is the recommended system to purchase based on your experience?
In the same boat. Bought a DIGITRAX CHIEF and a Prodogy System. Going to start testing as soon as I get some rails down.
Hi, we have had great debates in the past over who makes the best. I vote Prodogy System from MRC, but that’s what I use. Only thing that i can add other than that is bring your checkbook or gold card. LOL but kinda serious too.
Here again you must decide on what features (bell/whistles) you want your system to
do. Look at those listed above but also look at NCE and EasyDCC. Of all systems on
market EasyDCC is easiest to use.
I went Digitrax becuase of the computer interface. MRC is good since they give 5 years on the unit. The plans, if I ever fini***hem, is digitrax for 90% and prodigy for 10% of the layout. Wil use digitrax controls but will use the MR for other parts that do not tye into the interface.
I am retired, never had a layout until now, and am a beginner with electronics. I have a 4x12 layout in a bedroom. Went with Digitrax Empire Builder. Cost more than I had, but I now have 3 locos with Soundtraxx and I did it all myself. Just takes time and patience. and some $$
