Just purchased several of these, good runners, plenty of power (twin motors each with flywheels) BUT swapping the fitted dummy knuckle couplers for the factory supplied Arnold Rapido type couplers I find they are too high to operate with anything else. There is no way to adjust them that I can find, tried Bachmann but still waiting…waiting…
Anybody have same problem, any ideas how to resolve it?
sorry i dont have anything to help you, but i have been thinking about one of these. i like what you said about plenty of power. how many cars, 50 ft. microtrains boxcars for example, do you think it will pull? how heavy is it? you might try the atlas forum also. thanks…
Hi Fluff, a pair of N Scale DD40AX locos will easily pull 80 plus box cars on level and up 1% grade. I have a mixture of several different manufacturers so if you have only free rolling Micro trains, then it would be more. Only drawback was trying to keep the locos hooked up to long string of box cars. Had to distort one box car coupling by bending it up to Bachmann level. But not possible to change several hundred couplers.
two n scale engines pulling that many cars is great! i figured they would be great pullers. surely something can be done about the couplers being too high. i will ask on the atlas forum…thanks
