Your eyes are not deceiving you. It is oversize. It is close to “O” scale on an HO chassis. Used by the On30 crowd (including me) as an O scale engine.
Thanks for your answers.Iam happy to do not have to see a doctor for my eyes! What I cannot undestand is how such firm do so big mistake in the size because they sold it like HO.And even the motor is too big to scratch any thing whith it!! May be in a static place(railroad crossing or others…) Or if you know a guy working whith O ,I can give him
Believe me, the MP Plymouth is definitely not the only HO locomotive that is well outside 1/87th scale. Most of the “small” industrial locomotives that have been available over the years in HO (for example those Aristo and AHM) have been larger than exact scale would have allowed. More disturbing, and still not fully recognized by many modelers, is that several of Mantua’s pre-1900 prototype steam locomotives were done to OO scale (1/76) rather than HO. There are certainly further examples.

I think the Model Power DDT was originally from AHM. I have another AHM switcher and it looks Very bulky compared to my other switchers. The motor alone weighs about 2 1/2 ounces, and the there’s another 6 or 7 ounces of extra weight packed inside. But it runs well so I’m happy.[:D]
