Im gona be the first to say…What is new about Train Wrecks. The lask of Maintence is the cause of most of the STUPID Wrecks now a days. You don’t keep up on your own Tracks this is what happens…
I deeply feel sorry of those who have to leave because of the carelessness from the Railroad.
Its very sad[:(]. God bless all the victims families.

Either way, the potential possible causes of the wreck are scary as since nothing has been confirmed yet.
[1] A defective switch that “allegedly” was faulty before.
[2] Wheel or axle failure on a freight car.
[3] Human error.
No matter which one is the cause, it can sure make one uneasy especially Amtrak and commuter train riders as well as residents living near Class 1 rail lines.
Amazing that back in the 80s I remember conversations and stories that the days of senseless train wrecks were coming to an end thanks to technological innovations. Sadly no one took into account “corporate expenditure prioritizing”, “defferred maintenance schedules” and “crew fatigue”.
U.S train crews deserve a lot of respect for the potential risks they must put up with in their profession.
May The Lord heal those devastated families.
