I live in Ohio and yesterday was an estate sell in Ashland Ohio. I went because I had seen there was a couple railroad lanterns for sale. I was surprised at the amount of books. I didn’t get any of the lanterns. But when they auctioned the books I was able to get a box of the books.
Model railroading is new for me. I’ve been buying trains for all the kids in the family, and only now have I spent money on myself. I’ve been trying to learn all I can. I figured the books would expand my knowledge. I picked the particular box that I did because of a binder filled with nothing but historical papers on Norfolk Western. It is amazing. I never knew so much history had been documented. Nor had I known that steel mill railroading so popular, or created so precise.
I was and am very excited over this box of books. I spent the entire evening looking thru every book. Some of the books say “From the library of Dean Freytag”. There were also many WII and civil war books. While I have studied both subjects my entire life, I really wanted the train books more
On the way out of the auction a man stopped me to explain to me just who Dean Freytag was. I was shocked! I promise I will cherish these books forever.
