Dear Cody....

Just saw the current episode of “Cody’s Office” and thought I’d make a suggestion - when getting a review locomotive, I recommend requesting that it not be in PRR, PC, N&W, or NS paint if you are going to have it on your special.

Basically all I could see was an SD45 shaped hole in the screen - and that’s something the manufacturers should want to avoid as much as you should.

I had to smile when I saw the Atlas O MP15DC though - I model one of the Genesse & Wyoming system of railroads and bought both of the HO scale versions of that locomotive that they produced in that paint job.

Dear cody…

How the heck did you get such a good job? You don’t look very old. (my age). Errr…

Mind if I inquire as to what the heck you guys are talking about?[%-)] Who’s Cody?

Lothar,

Model Railroader associate editor Cody Grivno produces a video each week, you can watch it here

http://www.trains.com/mrr/default.aspx?c=a&id=2404

The videos are improving in quality and production every week. Cody has a geat sense of humour and I agree how did someone who looks younger tham me get such a great job.

I have to agree that a black colour scheme is not ideal for a product review. I’d also like to see the models move on a test track.

cheers

Yeah, and Cody, how come you received more than a fair share of “good looks.”

Mark

Alan,

Do you know where I could see any of the previous editions of Cody’s Office? This is the first one I’ve run across.

Thanks!

The dreaded subscriber only content![|(]

Well, you know how to solve that…

Sorry Jeff,

You gotta watch them as they come as far as I know. You could try fiddling with the URL but I don’t expect tat will work.

I only recently subscribed again to MR so I could get to see the videos. I bought every issue of MR anyway so a subscription was a good idea. The Auzzie dollar had come up a bit so it is cheaper to get MR posted direct to me in Oz than it is to buy at the local newsagent (a win win situation for me!)

The previous editions are on there somewhere. I kept a newsletter from February and was able to view the video. I tried hacking the link with no results. So if you want to ever refer back to one, keep your newsletters.

I find them quite entertaining.

My daughter was looking over my shoulder… she just shook her head and muttered something about me coming from the deepest part of the nerd forest…

Oh well, at least I’m in good company![:D]

Cody…if you’re following this thread, I want you to know that I found your E-zine quite enjoyable and informative.

Keep 'em comming Cody. And now I’ll get off the [soapbox]

He applied. MR posts their job openings on line and in the magazine; they’ve had a few editorial openings in the past few years. I toyed with applying for one a few years ago, but I don’t have a journalism background. IIRC, he has degree in journalism from Concordia College (Moorhead)–you can see a class ring on his hand-- and is a good modeler. My Dad’s family is from the same part of the world as Cody; he mentioned that he’s from Crookston, MN; my Dad grew up on a farm in Bygland, MN.

I think Cody is doing a superb job. Keep it up!

Magnus

Thanks Cody, I like your office. But the UP owning the railroad world was a little over the top but not far from the truth.

Welcome to the Forest!! Been here for a couple of decades and have no plans on leaving!
