Dear model railroader

i am currently am building a 4x8 i have the power pack and all i am hoping to know what is the scale model that says on the bottom made in Yugoslavia and want to know if its worth something or not it looks as if it a place in south america

Made in Yugoslavia, later changed to Made in Slovenia or Mahano, was originally the AHM brand name and lastly IHC products. IHC has now gone out of business.

El cheapo. I’m using one right now as a doorstop.

If the OP has a IHC steam locomotive then he has a decent locomotive.

Yes, I’m afraid that is so…it won’t be worth much, especially if it is well used, older, and has the older style higher flanges. I used mine as a test engine on some tracks when I was erecting my last layout. It was a good choice…another engine would have hurt me much more when it hit the floor from high on my spline roadbed and tracks. Never did run right after that tiny bump. Okay, big bump.

ok thank you everybody

While most of those older models have no real monetary value, they might have some serious sentimental value. I have a series of AHM equipment I won’t part with for anything, mainly the Reno, Genoa, Bowker, and some of the old-time passenger and freight cars. Besides providing a strong link to the layouts of my childhood and my Dad, they are also the source of my Wild WIld West train (the old TV show, not the horrid Will Smith movie). The Genoa was actually used on the show, along with a couple Sierra RR locos. So I would put the Genoa and a horse car and a combine and the coach together and make the private train of Jim and Artie.

You have to remember no matter weather it’s a old AHM Rivarossi passenger car or a classic Brass locomotive it’s only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. For me special items such as the first set of IHC passenger cars I purchased when I first got back in the hobby was more about the whole experience then the cars themselves. Went to a Greenburg show near buy with my wife and son Well he was amazed at the various modular layouts and the who thing in general. We found the guys from IHC and they had a deal on passenger car sets. So I picked up my first set of PRR heavy weights. Well my little guy had a smile on his face from ear to ear when I handed him one of the cars and told him I needed help caring it out to the car. All the way back to the car he kept smiling saying daddy’s train. How can you put a price on that?

Some times you just can’t put a price on what brings you enjoyment but you always know it’s value
