Dear MRR web designer

[tup]Hi

Just a quick request that will take your web guys no time at all to implement… At the top of each forum the route is displayed that gives a quick way of getting back to the forum subjects and to other forums. For example…

Home>Model Railroader>Forums>General discussion

Can you also put it at the bottom of the list of topics please? That saves having to go all the way back to the top of the page everytime to go back one step.

Thanks! [tup][tup]

Good idea.

While they’re at it down there at the bottom of the page, it would be a good time to fix the typo in the sign-up form for the “Model Railroder Newsletter…”

Repairing the red “Messages” indicator would be nice - i.e. it doesn’t change to red when you have a PM in your inbox. Right now you have to click on the link in order to see if anyone has actually sent you one or not.

Tom

The new pages are long. If your at the bottum of a page it takes a long time to scroll to the top. I also have wished the other forums were on the bottum too.

And fix the thing so that

  1. You can choose to open to the latest post in the thread;

and

  1. Figure out how to allow spell check to work

ROAR

Maybe they were thinking of the Buster Keaton film?

Which you can see here: http://www.nfb.ca/film/railrodder

“Sometimes” the little blue triangle (lower left of frame) works to bring me to the top of the page… AND sometimes NOT. Still lots of glitches even after I upgraded to IE11.

Ed

It works for me (sort of) but I have to have more than one PM waiting for me. If I have just one it doesn’t go red.

I suspect MRR uses low bid contractors, not in house.

My stepson use to do web pages for different contractors until he retired and most contract houses are pricey.

Rich

One of them there fancy pants mice with more than one button works - one of my buttons acts as “back” on the browser so I can be all the wya at the end of the page and if I want to go back to the topis list I just click that button.

To get back to the top of the page without having to scroll just click the blue triangle () that’s at the bottom of every post. You’ll be back at the top of the page instantly.

Next to the yellow, report abuse triangle, is the blue triangle, if you put your cursor on that it will show back to top, if it doesn’t, go to top of page on left where arrow next to URL display, click on that and go back one page, or right click or pull down, to show history.

I found the only way to get a squeaking wheel fixed, is to report it, to the people who are the one’s, in charge of oiling it. I’m still awaiting a reply, for some issues, I have encountered now after having installed three different browsers, that work great and then change, to loss of control on things that worked perfect, this is the only site that does that.

Frank

When I open a topic I open it in a new window. Then when I reach the bottom of the page I just close the window and the forum list is still displayed on my screen. No scrolling back to the top of the page for me.

Tom, it works for me. I am using IE9, or maybe it’s 10 now. v.11 trial caused huge problems for my wife’s VAIO laptop, and we had to take it in for repair.

-Crandell

The ability to make links to past forum threads “clickable” would be great, please.

Cheers, the Bear.

Crandell,

Messages is highlighted in red if I’m actually on the “All Conversations” page. However, when viewed from a forum page, it’s not. Not a big deal but I do miss the ability to change the font color.

Tom

I saw your reply to my PM yeserday, but didn’t notice it until I went into the General Discussion page, Tom. Would you mind replying once again, single word, and I’ll verify? When I see that you have replied, I will go into one of the other pages without opening it on the index page, which I almost always do, and see if it shows up red and bold for me, and I’ll let you know.

-Crandell

And fix what ever causes some post and pictures to be cut off on the right side! It’s not every post, but quite a few are.

And I sure liked the top of the page picture of the GN Empire Builder instead of pictures of “staff” holding tools? ! What brought that on ?

Mike.

Better idea: Forget this new forum software, and go back to the old software.

I was just on the Trains forum and they had the old software, I was able to get to the full site (instead of the mobile site), and it was easy to navigate, and I could actually read every word of every post. None of the sides were cut off. It was perfect. Why do we have to be force feed this new software that has all of these bugs.

Okay, Crandell - I responded…

Tom

Okay, now that’s odd. This time, as you claim, it only reddens on the index page. I don’t know what to make of it. But, it is as you say, Tom. And I agree with you, it really ought to indicate a waiting message regardless of which page a member is perusing.
