Does anybody know a proven method for removing Walthers decals from a car without ruining the finish of the car?
Are you asking about removing “Walthers Decals” or lettering from a Walthers car? Walthers has not made decals for many years.
Walthers includes decals for use with their passenger cars. I would like to remove these decals from a Walthers car.
If the decals have not been over sptayed with some sort of clear finish (ie Dullcote) I would think a liberal coat of decal softener such as Solvaset would soften them up enough to safely remove the decals but not the underlying paint.
If they have been over sprayed, I’d still probably try the decal softener first. It that doesn’t work, then try using some Ivory Liquid and the old tried and true pinkish orange eraser on the end of a pencil. Put a drop or tow of the detergent on the decal, then rub gently with the eraser until the decal rubs off. Add another drop of detergent when things start to dry out lubricate the area. This may result in some dulling of the underlying paint but with a delicate touch it should be minimal.
Good luck.
I’ve removed the name decals from Walthers passenger cars that are sealed with flat finish by using duct tape. Burnish the tape over the decal area, and then pull up sharply and quickly. You may need to repeat several times to get all of the decal up.

Cool idea, Greg. These aren’t even sealed. I’ll try that first.
WOW GREG! Did that ever work! Better than any chemical. This tip will come in VERY handy, thanks.

You’re very welcome. Glad I could help.
