I am in need of some yellow Roman alphabet decals for my S T & P engines that are 1/2in.( actual measure Not scale) or or a little larger. I had some really old Champ but they didn’t workout so well. Any help finding some will be appreciated.
Well you can make them yourself with decal sheets on your inkjet printer. Go to your lhs and see if they carry the decal sheets that you can make yourself and if you have a scanner you can scan them load them into microsoft office and size accordingly and test print on paper and if all looks good print it on your printer and seal it with some spray decal bonder " MAKE SURE THE DECALS ARE LAYING FLAT THE COLOR WILL RUN IF NOT" and spray light coats not all at once and get some micro decal set and use this after you lay out your decals on your job and all is good. hope this helps.
Another option would be to try Woodland Scenic they have transfer letters that may work for you or you may want to try Microscale Decals Roman letter in G scale are 13/32" I suspect thats about as close to 1/2" as your gonna get.
" I had some really old Champ but they didn’t workout so well." Earlier this year Champ was still in business as I picked up some Western Pacific steam decals from them. They are supposed to close but you might be able to still get a fresh set from them.
While Champ is still selling decals, they’re no longer producing new ones. I received an order from them a couple of weeks ago, and it included a notice that they would be closing later this year. The business is still for sale, though.
Champ still has 1/2" decals available HERE, but only in Block Gothic font.
That’s only true for another couple months. Accoridn gto Champ, their tired of selling off old stock and are hoping to dump it on someone else. Or, the dumpster…
I’ve been told that they still hope to sell the company as a complete package, but that they may have to sell it piecemeal. In addition to the inventory of decals, there is all the equipment for manufacturing, plus extensive files of prototype information. It would be a shame if all of this is lost, but there aren’t a lot of us out here still painting and lettering our model railroad equipment.
