Decals ( forgive me )

Forgive me if this has been asked before. I recall seeing an ad or an article ( I can’t find it now ) regarding decal paper for (inkjet type ?) printers.
Does anyone know who makes it ? Is it any good ? Is it compatable with color inks or is it strictly for black ink ?
I can’t remember the name of the company that makes it, I tried searching Microscale’s website and can’t seem to find anything there.

Thanks in advance

Micro-mark sales decal paper…as for using it dunno.

Micro-mark, Testor’s and a few other companies make both white and clear decal paper for inkjets. It can be used with any color the printer will put out, but understand that the ink used in these printers is not particularly opaque, so the base color of the model will often tint the decal color. This can be more of a problem with light colors like yellow or lighter green shades.

If you can concoct a color scheme that avoids the above problem, the stuff works pretty well. I did run into a problem with third-party ink cartridges on a Canon (the ink wanted to bead up rather than set on the decal sheet), but HP inks worked fine. I’ve heard Epson works well, and I’d bet genuine Canon ink or any ink that will set on a transparency would work fine.

The main thing is that after you print the decal sheets, you need to seal them with a spray. Testor’s sells a decal setting spray and several people on this forum have used a Krylon clear spray with success. If you don’t seal them well, the ink will run when the decal paper is wetted. Also, some of these papers are a little thicker than what you get from stock MicroScale decals, making a setting solution very important when applying the decal. SolvaSet, MicroSet or similar will work fine for that.

Thank You for the info.
