DECALS

Anybody have an idea/source of decal sets appropriate to a RR 120ton Steam Wrecking Crane and its Boom car?

I have looked at some mfg. without success. Don’t want to have to make my own if possible. [+o(]

Champ had a set specifically for the Tichy crane, but they ceased all operations last month. In HO, Microscale offers Set 87-1013 - MoW Roman-style lettering in black and white, or Set 87-1012 - MoW Gothic-style lettering in black and white.

I saw a post here a bit back, where a generous member offered descal services.

I have printed a color print on decal film with an ‘off the shelf’ ink jet printer. They came out great, except (yeah EXCEPT!) for traction patterns where the pinwheels guided the paper through & re-rolled the ink, other than that, the coverage was excellent. However, I accidently touched it, before sealing them & it was like an outbreak, a smear like a thunder cloud! then the Dullcoat sealer allowed to wash & blend (bleed out) the crisp text. I have to admit I expected a little washing with the sealer, but I shot it pretty dry, at a good distance & not heavy, but common ink jets will run instantly. (I did use a couple of them & there was no further bleeding, the positioned as they were sealed. Formerly I used a Corporate Color Laser, & that was great, but multi colors lifted from one-another, a dark red would be red & black, & it ended up being a splotchy black base with occasional red overlays,-where the red stuck…

I would like to find someone who could print WHITE & overlay colors (example a new UPS logo) it’s difficult from a printing standpoint. And it is Licensed, but I will not part with my decals, so I don’t se an issue. However some lawmakers do… So there has to be a tree in front of any UPS truck on my layout, I guess, geez!!!

I want some DME & ICE spelled out & some DOT in IA state logo’s for my trucks.

I’ve tried penning them on clear film & get about 2 out of 10, that may fly, but then I look at my CAD/Photoshop & get ticked.

Wish I could help more, but I feel your frustration.
