Ok i have asked numerous questions and now i have finally made my decisions.

  1. Im going to go ahead and try to build a garden railroad with HO scale. I honestly believe that it will work just fine.

  2. I have asked about building steam engines and buying them well im going to do both. Im planning on buying an engine in G scale and then building one. I want to have one that was i will be able to see the full mechanical side of one before i start. But im going to build one in G scale so i need to go buy some track for outdoors cause thats where this is going to be. Does anyone know where i can get some track preferably the cheapest out there lol. My price is already through the roof with all that im planning.

Deathwing, if you are in the US, I get my aristocraft/LBG brass track from St. Aubin trains (www.staubintrains.com). they have two stores in the US, one in woodstock, IL (st. Aubin station), and they recently opened a new store in Las Vegas, Nevada. they have fairly good deals on brass track (it still costs a lot of $$$).

Another good retailer for track is california and oregon coast railway (www.cocry.com). they have several brands, such as llagas creek (nickel silver, aluminium), sunset valley RR (aluminium, nickel silver, stainless steel, brass), MicroEngineering (aluminium, Nickel silver), AMS (brass), and their own combinations of different brands. Personaly, I think that they have the best selection of rail, ties, switches, and track supplies. check out their website for more details.

Im located in the US. My more offical location would be Tennessee. Im asuming that the alluminum track would be my best bet then. I dont mind cleaning hear or there i just dont want to be out there once a week cleaning.

Deathwing, LGB track may not be the cheapest but I think its the best. Also there turnouts are good and can be powerd to save running around the lay out to change them. I uyse the train engineer to control my layput

What is a good price for g scale track?

The prices that i keep running into are all over the place. Like how much should i be paying per foot of g scale track not the best or worst just average?

a couple of years ago, you could get code 322 brass track for about $2.99 a foot. now, it’s more like $3.75 a foot. I wouldn’t pay more than 4 dollars a foot, but if the price of copper keeps skyrocketing, we might be pushing five dollars a foot in the next few years. the time to buy is now, while the prices are lowest.

Let’s hope they find more copper deposits!
