Decoder conflicting problems

ok so i got a rivarossi heisler with factory dcc sound. for some reason it seems to conflict with other decoders and the locomotive right next to it will start moving and continue to speed up untill i pull it of the track. all locomotives with digitrax decoders seem to do this. nothing else will.

Sounds like maybe it’s pulling the DCC signal down and the other locos are seeing DC and switching to analog operation - set DC off in those decoders by adjusting CV29 - if it’s 38 or more, subtract 4 and make that the new value. That should stop the others from taking off. As to why the Heisler does this - could be any number of things. It could just be tight gears or gummed up lubricant causing it to draw excessive current.

In my machinations today with my RS installation, I managed to set 2 other DCC locos as well as the RS to addy #3. They all started at once.

Guess it must be the Official Work on Decoders day.

I’ve been doing work on speed tables and CV29 and adding momentum. Nothing bad has happened. That I know of.

Also coincidentally, it appears to also be official Alco RS Day; as I’m working on my three SP&S RS-3’s.

i decided to read the cv and it was just 6. what should i do? should i still subtract 4?

This is the digitrax decoder manual. Scroll down to page 34 and you will find a chart that list all the settings for CV29. These settings should work on any decoder.

Yes. A value of 2 means short address, 28/128 speed steps.
