Decoder for Rivarossi FEF-3?

Hi guys. I’m in the process of converting my fleet to DCC and was wondering, what kind of decoder would be best for the DCC ready Rivarossi Union Pacific FEF-3? I was thinking a Digitrax DZ123 since there’s not much room for a decoder. Anybody done this? Can you install it by just removing the sand dome or is complete disassembly required?

Any help would be appriciated.

I have two FEF-3’s and I used the DZ123.
no disassembly required just pop the sand dome off and plug it in.
Works great

Thanks 4018! Did you have to wire in resistors for the light bulbs? Also, what did you do to get all the wires out of the way of the decoder plug?
