Decoder help needed

I recently had a steamer derail on a turnout causing a short. I had 2 other steamers on a nearby track that are now having problems. The problem engines are a Precision craft T-1 with Lok sound and a Proto 2-8-8-2 with QSI. Both engines are doing the same thing. The lights work and the sound works but the engines won’t move. I have done resets on both but still no luck.

I have done: PCM T-1 CV8=8

Proto reed switch and also the reset electronically using CV’s

Is there anything alse I am missing??? I am hoping I did not do permanant damage.

I have a BLI Class J that does the samething. I have found that I need to run it on DC, then resit the decoder on DCC works for some odd reason.

I just tried the Proto steamer and it runs on DC. Still no movement using DCC. Sounds and light work. I reset again…still nothing.

If it was just the QSI loco I’d say it was in ‘disconnect’ mode, which behaves exactly as you say, the motor increases as you speed up, horn and bell all work, but the loco does not move. However, the Loksound 3.5 inthe T-1 doesn’t have this feature. If something was mucked up in the settings, a reset should haev cleared it all, but check CV19 and make sure it’s set to 0 so the loco doesn’t think it’s in a consist.

CV19 is zero. (proto engine)

Every CV I have checked is set to the factory default.

Both engines run on DC. Neither is set for consists or are in any shutdown mode.

I am confused…Any more suggestions?

Nobody has any suggestions or ideas???

On our club layout there have been instances where a short on the layout has caused locos to lose some of their settings. The only solution is to reset the decoder on the program track and then reprogram.

Thank you…I will try that. I have only tried programing on the main track. Maybe the program track will make a difference. stranger things have happened.
