I installed a Digitrax decoder in a Proto 2000 GP 9 and wired it and the Engine will not move, What is Wrong?

You will have to take it to someone who can debug the issue for you. With the information you provided, all anyone can say is something is not as it should be.
Well if you could be a bit more specific. What type of decoder? Plug in or hard wired? If hard wired, did you isolate the motor from the frame? Does the light work? Does the engine buzz at all? Is it programmed properly? Need a lot more info in oder to help.

Ok, I took out the small chip on the main board and installed the decoder on top. I added a new Digitraxx decoder 1.5 amp. I install the decoder plug in and no lights or buzzing sounds. Nothing. How would I Isolate the motor on this?

Okay lets take this step by step. GP9 is a plug and play decoder. Is the decoder plugged in the right way? There is a right and wrong way to plug them in. Pin 1 needs to be plugged into the circuit board in the plug marked pin 1. Its been a while since I’ve done one of those but I am 99% sure that pin 1 on the decoder is labeled and hole 1 on the circuit board is labeled. Might not be real obvious so you’ll have to look carefully at both.
Since its plug and play you don’t have to worry about isolating the motor. Thats already done.
Also while you are checking pin 1, check all the other pins and make sure none got bent, or worse, broken. Its easy to do. Make sure all the pins are going into the holes.

Sounds like the decoder is plugged in backwards. I had the same problem with a Proto 2000 FA1. Dave

I took the decoder out and placed it in another engine and off it went. Maybe the motor or wiring is messed up. Any ideas on where to go from here?

Sounds like you plugged the decoder in backwards, as others above have suggested. Try plugging it in the other way around.
