Decoder in a Rivarossi Heisler

I took my Heisler apart and find it very DCC un-friendly! [?] Anyone succeeded in putting a decoder in an older Rivarossi Heisler? How was it done? Do you know a web site with pics or plans on how to install Decoder in one of those?
Chris

Well…[?][:(]

Well…Here’s a Rivarossi Heisler with a DZ123PS decoder in the bunker.

The instruction sheet is pretty clear compared to many. If you don’t have the sheet I could scan or copy it and either email or USPS mail it to you.

Let me know,

Thank you for the offer. I sent my e-mail to you. What decoder brand is it?
Chris

I would like to know if the motor is isolated. Looks like it’s not. Where do the motor pick up current?
Chris

Chris,

I used a Digitrax DZ123PS decoder. The logo was DCC-Ready with an 8-pin plug. Does yours have the DCC plug? The motor was already isolated.

My diagram may not do you any good if you have an older “non-DCC-ready” Heisler.

Let me know.

Thanks,

Jim,
It is an older heisler, and I’m pretty sure it’s not isolated.
Anyone else tried to put DCC in one ?
Chris

I put one in one I got about a year ago. It was DCC ready and the decoder just plugged in.

YOu can tell if your motor is isolated with a multi-tester set to test continuity. Put one lead on an engine pole and the other to the frame. Then do the other engine pole.
